this game supertux came with my linux distro. I have heard you can download new levels. Does anyone know where to get these new levels and how to make them playable in the game?

You mean, the bonus levels? I know you can create your own levels, and some bonus levels iirc comes with supertux. It's probably possible to download and install such bonus levels as well, but I have no clue where to get it. The supertux page ( http://super-tux.sourceforge.net/milestone1/levels.html ) says just this about levels in supertux milestone 1:
Milestone 2 is still under development.Currently we have 15 levels none of these are final and will for sure need additional fixup, better enemy placement, etc. But it should be a good start. More levels are very welcome.
