Installing mplayer
I have the mplayer-vidix-mga-0.90pre8-1.i586.rpm file, and I'm trying to install it on RedHat 9. It's on a floppy disk. It says to type apt-get install mplayer-skins, I'm assuming this is in the run command box, and then it should work. But it doesn't, it says it can't run the specified command. I'm a linux newb (2 days) so simple explanations are best.
Thanks,
Baelnorn

I might be wrong here but is apt-get not a command for mandrake or so?In red hat you'll need to use rpm.
Anyway, have a look at www.easylinuxguide.org . There is a guide to installing mplayer somewhere.I am on a journey to mastering Linux and I got a bloody long way to go!!!

apt-get is actually a debian command. They have it for mandrake/redhat but you have to install it seperately.
Anyway, since it's an RPM file, why not just rpm -Uvh it?Linux Underground (my own linux website)
