changing image file size in GIMP
i want to change the file size of an image so i can use it for grub which allows max image file size of about 48kb i think. is there an option in gimp which can do this? i can't seem to find the option for it. any help is appreciated. thanks.

Generally I just reduce the quality or increase compression. I don't think there is a spcific tool for setting the filesize.

The size of an image depends on the number of pixels and lines, the depth (number of bits per pixel) and compression. You can play with these parameters so to meet your desired size. To change the size in GIMP you can go to: Image -> Scale image
