Root login probs
Hi I did say I was a newby! I use autologin and when I open konsole (which I think is an editor that you mention and the only editor I seem to have) I am logged in as myname@localhost and I don't know how to change this to root login. I installed mandrake 10.1 and so the myname login I thought would be the root one, anyway it won't let me access a lot of the files which would be available in root but I don't know how to get to root.
Any help please! this is a bit of a learning curve but I'm not going to give up just yet.
Thanks
Andy

the konsole is not an editor,it's a bit like having a dos box but more powerful.
to change to root
then press enterCode:su
it will then display
enter the root password (you do remember it?) that will give you root users permissions. when finished typeCode:password
that will get you back to normal user modeCode:exit
to edit a file type
where filename is the name of the file you wish to editCode:kate filename
