    gkrellm

Does anyone know how to set up the machine so that gkrellm will obtain the info on fan rotation, thermal stats and etc? After reading the man page and setting up /sys, I thought this problem would be taken care of.

I dont really know if there exist any tools in linux for that. At work we use another software for more harware near information, like fans, rotation speeds,temperature.... Compaq insight manager tools..

Well, GKrellm 2, at least, is supposed to support it. It definetly has the option for it, I just can't get it to work. .

Check out these the pics on the left side.

I'm fairly sure that you must set up the I2C modules and stuff.
Download lm_sensors at http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/ (or install the binary package, but I'm not sure that it supports 2.6 in that case), and run the sensors-detect program. Pray that the driver module for your sensor chip exists.
When compiling lm_sensors for 2.6, run "make user" and "make user_install", in order to only build the user space stuff. The kernel code that comes with lm_sensors doesn't work with 2.6 yet.
