I am a bit of a newbie...my first go at compiling something is the opensource version of www.trolltech.com 's q-tools. I also installed (on my kubuntu dapper box ) the x-org dev package. Configuration as per the install instructions is fine, but when I go for the 'make' I get an error saying that the file -lxrender cannot be found. Googling for similar messages gets very little in the way of help.

Is anyone able to suggest whether this is because another x windows package is missing - I think that's the most likely reason, but I can't find out what might be missing.

Other basic compiling tips gladly received.
