    I use KDE and discovered it has a program called Kopete. You can use basically any IM program with it. It doesn't have all of the features of MSN Messenger. That is all I use so maybe I will give aMSN a go.

    By the way, what is the X user user environment as opposed to KDE? is X another GUI or just plugins?

    X is liek the underlying program that lets u run a GUI at all, KDE/gnome runs on top of X
