Speech recognition
I am wondering whether anyone has gotten any speech recognition applications running on recent Linux distributions. A web search reveals that ViaVoice used to be available but is no longer, and Naturally Speaking, a commercial program, does not run on Linux.
My questions:
* Does anyone know whether there are any active open-source projects to bring speech recognition to Linux? I couldn't find any.
* Has anyone had luck running a commercial speech recognition application on a virtual machine? (eg., Naturally Speaking on a VM Ware virtual Windows box)?
Thanks!

from the sounds of it, theres plenty in the works, no opensource apps as yet, most of it is still under development or not up to scratch.
i used to use viavoice on windows, and i found it really quite cumbersome. spent more time correcting spellings and grammar than dictating. hope you get more mileage. You know, aliens are going to come to earth in 50 years and kill the hell out of us for DDoSing their networks with this SETI crap
