    "Signal 11" crashes

Just installed Mandrake 9.2 and am receiving the following error from Konquerer:

KDE CrashHandler: nspluginviewer causing Signal 11 error (SIGSEGV)

    then the following with backtrace:

Also, Mozilla will open a web page for a few seconds, then exit with no error reported.

    Does anyone recognize this problem?

    Thanks

I get a fair amount of these from konqueor as well, it is basically due to (IMO) badly written code that (IMO) isnt of production quality.

You could submit the details to the development team, i think you can use http://bugs.kde.org/ if you want.

Maybe your ram's gone sour? You could check it with memtest.

What happens if you start up Mozilla from a terminal and it crashes? What messages does it give?

    Good luck

I had two 128 MB RAM modules initially, and so I tried running with just each alone in the first socket, then even tried a 256 MB module from another machine. No effect.

I'm new to linux and don't know much about memtest, but I'll try it.

And I'll try opening Mozilla from a terminal to see what it says.

As for the software perhaps being messed up, I installed the same items the same way on the same machine last week and didn't have this problem. But the HD I loaded it on would not go into UDMA on that channel, so I just reformatted it, moved it, and reloaded Mandrake. But now I have these Sig 11 errors.

    Hard to understand.

    Thanks for any input.

Mozilla will open from a CL prompt, but after it tries to load a page heavy on graphics, it diappears without a trace, and the command line gives no acknowledgement.

Actually, in the meantime, I reloaded Mandrake 9.0 (not 9.2) which now runs fine, both Mozilla and Konquerer, with no signal 11 crashes. However, it asks to install "Shockwave Flash" on all the web pages that used to cause the signal 11, leading me to believe that the Flash Plugin is the fault, and since it's now not present, the browsers don't crash. However, those web pages load slower without it. I suppose I'll need to let Macromedia know about this bug with Mandrake 9.2 and ask how to fix it.

As for the bad memory, I see your point. I will still try to run the benchmarks, though all seems fine now.

Except for one thing. I downloaded Mozilla 1.6 to replace the Moz 1.1 that was on Mandrake 9.0. Installed fine but am having trouble linking to it. Will post this separately.

    Thanks for the advice.
