mplayer and avi files
Hi. I had to install linux because windows wouldnt install and it sucks and so does microsoft. Im using FedoraCore5.
Anyway im trying to play AVI files in mplayer and I ran "yum install mplayer" on the root terminal and even downloaded some codecs for it somewhere on the net but it still wont play AVI files saying it doesnt have the proper codec installed.
If someone can point me in the right direction I would be very thankful. Im a complete linux newbie but would like to understand this OS more. Thanks.

To play *.avi you can use Real player. Download it from http://softpedia.com/ .
But it is Real-player10.bin.
You can't install it now.
Firstly: $ chmod a+x Real-player10.bin
--> : $ su
--> : # ./Real-player10.bin
--> : # <press Enter util it ask you "yes/no">
--> : # yes <or y>
--> Done!
Good luck!
