    OOWriter error on startup

I've been using the Open Office apps for a while now without any problems but today I went to open Writer and got the following error:

    Code:
** (process:28652): WARNING **: Unknown error forking main binary / abnormal early exit ...
and it quits. Apparently it's a known bug

but I haven't found a fix for it. I tried uninstalling Writer and re-installing but the problem persists. Anybody know of a way around this? I'd like to stick to Open Office because of the plethora of Microsoft Word documents I have sent to me daily. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

[Shameless bump] Trying to remove OOWriter gives me a dependancy error, saying that other programs depend on OOWriter. I won't be able to get by without this for long so any hints in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.[/Shameless bump]
