k3b / cdrecord error
whenever i strt k3b it tells me this:
Used cdrecord version 1.0pre1 is outdated
Although K3b supports all cdrtools versions since 1.10 it is highly recommended to at least use version 2.0.
Solution: Install a more recent version of the cdrtools.
cdrecord 1.0pre1 does not support ATAPI
The configured version of cdrecord does not support writing to ATAPI devices without SCSI emulation and there is at least one writer in your system not configured to use SCSI emulation.
Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI emulation) for all devices. This way you won't have any problems. Or you install (or select as the default) a more recent version of cdrtools.
But everything is upto date
Burning fails, trying dao it says "not supported by drive (false) try tao. Tao in turn fails with unknown error codeCode:cdrecord: Installed: 5:1.0~pre5-1 Candidate: 5:1.0~pre5-1 Version table: *** 5:1.0~pre5-1 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 5:1.0~pre4-1.1 0 200 http://ftp.de.debian.org testing/main Packages rasmus@KanotixBox:~$ apt-cache policy wodim wodim: Installed: 5:1.0~pre5-1 Candidate: 5:1.0~pre5-1 Version table: *** 5:1.0~pre5-1 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 5:1.0~pre4-1.1 0 200 http://ftp.de.debian.org testing/main Packages rasmus@KanotixBox:~$ apt-cache policy k3b k3b: Installed: 0.12.17-3 Candidate: 0.12.17-3 Version table: *** 0.12.17-3 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.12.17-2+b1 0 200 http://ftp.de.debian.org testing/main Packages
Any ideas?

Hmm, that version of cdrecord is actually slightly newer than the one I'm using (pre4-1 on Debian Etch), and I haven't run into any problems. The only thing that comes to my mind is the kernel version. Are you using a 2.6 kernel? If not, ide-scsi may be the way to go. Another option (probably not ideal) is to get the new version of cdrtools from the developer's Web site. It looks like the Debian packages have a problem, so you'd need to compile it from source. But I'd take suggestions from other people first.
Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!

kernel is new 2.6.18. I have no idea how to compile from source so ill pass on that. im sing nero for linux till further, it works but i don't like it
