    Never-ending Compile..?



    Nothing better to do? Try compiling Openoffice 1.1 , if you manage to get around the numerous segfaults, or the portage break (if you are using Gentoo), or that it doesn't play well with distcc, you're off to a good start. It warns that aggressive CFLAGS will break it, it doesn't lie. Some editing of CFLAGS, another segfault, edit again... makes it a bit further... then segfaults. Hmmm..
    Off to do a search... seems that there are numerous bugzillas, bug reports, on varying compile fails. Hmmm.. One about portage ..yep.. portage needs to be updated .. update portage ... emerge openoffice
    ... compiling... no segfault ... compiling ..... Hmmm long time ....

    OOo is huge and takes forever to compile. thats y i jst installed from binary. its the only software that i have ever installed from binary jst cause i didnt have the time to wait for the compile to finish i was working on a paper and needed the office software

    I know how to fix this rm -f /usr/portage/distfiles/openoffice-1.1.0-r2.........
