Help Installing Gcc 4.1.1
I am a long time C programmer and cant wait to start programming with Linux. This is my first time using a Linux system and I am using SUSE Linux 10.1 and for some reason it did not come with Gcc installed on it. I have been trying to download the latest version and I finally did from http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Gnu/gcc-4.1.1/ I than extracted it to my desktop as gcc-4.1.1-ia64-11.23.depot and I have no clue what to do now? I tried finding on line tutorials and help files but I found them very implicated. Could someone please help me?
p.s. sorry about posting such a noob question

If you still have your install CD's/DVD, gcc can be found on there. Try opening YAST, going to Add Programs and searching for gcc.
