Mplayer loads fine, everything works but one thing: the sound.
When loaded I get this:
All other sound works prefectly, it is just with mplayer that it fails.Code:Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.
Why is this?

This happens when audio device is not free.. do that disable system warning beeps.. it is on console then try to run mplayer. open it in same terminal again and again.. but in diff tabs.. it will work.. happened to me also

I'am a newb to Linux, so I dont really know what you mean. However what I can tell you is that i'am an running Fedora Core 1, with the latest 2.4 kernel, under gnome.

Nope. I can run xmms prefectly, sound works. It is that just with Mplayer that it doesnt.

So is it just one movie (avi, mpg, etc) that won't play sound?
