(Lots of) Problems in Grip

I am currently trying to rip my Cd's into .mp3 format using Grip, but for some reason it doesnt want to Encode them with ID3 tags. Also when I play the .mp3 files they either make some really nasty sound (Non-encoded), or they can't be opened at all (Encoded). Help!!!!
