Hi, I'm looking for an app that enables me to view 3ds files. It'd be nice if it was in Portage but it's not necessary. Thanks in advance...

try blender3d. Visit http://www.blender.org/tutorials-help/. It's open source, and works an almost all OS's. I think it probably will be in portage, since blender3d is the best OSS 3d app out there. You can import 3ds in into it.

Thanks
. I put that in. However I don't know how to open the files. I see no option for that file type under the "import" menu.

Ah, I checked this link http://www.blender.org/download/pyth...import-export/ about the lates version, and it sais you no longer need the python script - 3ds import/export is built into blender. What version are you using?

I have 2.43 installed, should be latest as it's from Portage.
