I am new to Linux (using ubuntu), and to setting up servers in general.
i have searched both this forum and the web.

I installed proftpd, set up a user and group and made sure to give the group access to directory i set as home for proftpd

i go to the other computer on my network i type in the ftp://user@ip
a dialogue box comes up and asks for my password, which i supply

then the page runs forever, no error message nothing it just sits there and runs

any suggegestions would be greatly appriciated.
