Runs under Gnome or KDE. I think it works great.

If you are asking about a client to acess ftp servers then i secound Jeremy with gFTP
howerer if you are asking about an ftp server then Proftp

Ive been hearing abit about vsftd maybe check that out suppose to be faster then proftpd.
