Bootable CDs with k3b
I'm trying to burn Ubuntu using k3b - but it's not coming out bootable. I tried both Ubuntu 6.10 and 6.06, but neither will boot at start-up.
I am guessing it's because of k3b, which is strange because I've been using k3b for a long time and I've never changed the settings from default.
Does anyone know what I need to do during/before the burn process?
Stupid question but are you burning it as an image? Did you check the md5sum to make sure the images aren't corrupt? Are you sure you are set up to boot from CD?
Yea I'm burning the ISOs (using the "New Data CD Project" option). My BIOS is set to boot from CD first - and I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the CDs (I've tried both CDs on both my desktop & laptop).
I must be doing something wrong when burning them. I originally thought there might be a problem with the ISO when I first burned 6.10, and that's why I tried 6.06. But now I figure it's user-error.
Checking the md5 might be worth while though, how do I go about doing that? I've never seen the need in the past - but I might as well learn how to sometime =)
*Edit: figured it out.
did the trick.
The 6.06 is fine - but I can't find the 6.10 md5. Oh well, I'm sure that's not the problem anyway.
I might have figured it out.
I went to Tools -> Burn CD Image. Hopefully this'll make it bootable by default.
*Edit: that did the trick. Strange I never had to do it that way before...
