I am using Thunderbird. It's available in the sources of most of distros. Easy to configure.
If you want a webmail client that isn't Gmail, take a look at Zoho Mail:Quote:

Use Iceape/SeaMonkey 2.0.6 Browser with Mail and Newsgroups addon inside.
Simple to set up internal browser email client also and make seperate launcher.

Firefox used to have Simple Mail but it looks like it was dropped.
