Firefox & File Types

i'm trying to get Firefox to automatically open .doc files; currently it only gives me the option to save them to disk.

i'd assume this could be accomplished by Edit->Preferences->Downloads->File Types and amending as necessary, except that there's nothing in there. There are no file types listed and no relevant plugins.

Is there any way to change this?

It doesn't ask you if you want to 'open with...'?

Nope, the only option is to 'Save As...'. i'm wondering if this might help.

With OpenOffice do this: Tools>Options>Internet>Mozilla Plug-in. Check the enable box.
