my isdn internet connection was working perfect with kppp.after the kernel upgrade to 2.6.10 it connects to the internet and then it disconnects and i get an error from kppp (error 16) which stands for modem hanging up.what should go wrong?any ideas?please take care that i hadn't made any changes to my kppp configuration..
now i get another error message (12) that the link is terminated because it was idle..is this a provider problem or the problem is mine?
idle could meen a few things
whats your ISP running on (cable, phone line)
whats the modem brand (alcatel, speedtouch)
his the network card detected. (working properly)

lsmod as root to look for (cdc-acm)
modprobe cdc-acm
dmesg
rm -f /dev/modem
ln -sv /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem
link /dev/modem /dev/ttyACM0
init string ATZ
init string ATB40
Delete string for sound in yast2 --- etc --- network --- modem IMPORTANT
Setup provider
yast2--system-/etc/sysconfig editor --- system ---kernel -- modules_loaded_on_boot write modprobe cdc-acm
In /etc/init.d/boot.local write (start--system--file manager--file manager super user mode)
rm -f /dev/modem
ln -sv /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem
then configure modem device from ttyACM0 to *modem*
or something like that.
And the best thing is that it will stall after 10 seconds, and you have to reconnect over and over again!
I had this problem for 6 months and HELP US PLEASE,
I use a dual OS system because of this internet problem.
