Hello Hello - I just bought a new CD and I like to rip them to my computer and encode them into mp3 format... I'm hearing more and more good things about Ogg Vorbis... that it's better tan mp3 - blah blah blah - what do you guys use???
What program should I use to rip and encode my cd to OGG or MP3 files???

Use cdparanoia, or ripperX (a frontend).

Ogg is the way to go. Try encoding something at 64kps for one song and compare them. You'll be amzed.
I should add, ripping to ogg is harder in Linux. What you'll use [bold]cdda2wav[/bold] to rip audio CD tracks (remember, audio CD tracks do NOT have a file type) to wav format. Once that's done, you should rip the .wav files to ogg using [bold]oggenc[/bold]. I've heard that there is a program called cdda2ogg which is a PERL script but I've never actually used it.
