net snmp fedora
Hello i need some help
I have install the net snmp tar.gz package on fedora 8 but when i use the snmp commands i get -request timeout, when requesting snmp info
I need help activating the snmpd service which is not listed or is not starting when i type the command to start service .
Did you check service status?
ps -ef | grep snmp ?
thanks for the reply
I think the problem deals with starting the snmpd service on fedora 8. When fedora was first installed the snmpd service was not present. After installing the snmp package I was able to enable it via the services manager. But it was not running since I typed the ‘service snmpd start’ command and there was no response.
If you got no response then it's probably working, only when it gets an error, will you get a response.
EDIT: what happens when you do service snmpd restart
Chkconfig is a basic system utility to update and query runlevel information for system services.
