Any apps for network management in Linux? Switched network. Would prefer it to be free. Really just need something that'll give me information on the network's computers (hardware specs, maybe software, IP address list, etc).
. . . I'm also open to windows apps that do this
Use ifconfig :
for how to use it.
Also traceroute, netstat, nmap, and so on, try using www.google.com/linux, and forgot about using windows cause network is a *nix job, let windows do its job (you know, get broken when you most need it :P )
Freshmeat.net is the best place to look for software. You may want to look there.
also http://sourceforge.net , where the sources lies, waiting for you to compile them, and make them happy, running as an ELF in the forest :P
