Is there a way i can access an NTFS drive(WINxpPro)from linux (RH9) with write permissions?
I really need to switch to NTFS because its securer than FAT32 file system.
thanks,

Nope. Sorry, but that's impossible. Linux still hasn't write support for NTFS. That's what you get for Microsoft not sharing there specs.
I believe that NTFS write support is being developed as we speak, though, so just wait and see. Here's a link to the project's home page:
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/
Thats good now when ms are releasing there new filesystems soon...winfs. Thanks Microsoft!
Actually, as I've heard, that isn't really a new filesystem. It's still based on NTFS, it's just that you get some kind of SQL interface to it. Dunno really how it works, though.
if M$ stays true to form they will make it so you can't have read and write permissions with linux. thankfully fat32 is around :)
/me waits for a new version of windows with a warnign about the insecurties of fat32 and how it has been cracked by nasty hackers and is no longer supported.
u know its gonna happen.
of course it will its MS were talking about...money hungry bastards
and I will still use fat32. It is far more important that my linux box can access those files. For the amount of times I actually boot into windass, if someone can get all those files, hats off to them. lol
