samba guest permissions HELP
I have a question regarding samba file sharing:
Is it possible to have my shares remain open to all guests without the need for a password to login, but then require a password if anyone wants to write to this folder or delete?
The reason i would like to do this is that im sharing a movies and music folder on the network to my mediagate 350HD, and would like to keep it so no password is needed to login but is needed to write to these folders. Basically so i can write to these folders from my personal computer, and my brothers can only view the files, not edit anything. Is this possible?
Again.. i no it is possible if i change security from share to user, but then that means a login which screws up my mediagate. So is there a way around this?
Here are the settings which im currently using in Samba:
security = share
passdb = tdbsam
guest account = nobody
path = /media/music
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes
writable = yes
anyway thx for your help in advance guys..
