usb device mount points
Can anyone give me a convenient command to find out where a USB device is mounted to? In this case it is a webcam I need to find out about. All the correct modules are loaded as far as I can see (pwc, videodev, even ov511...). The camera is a supported device, too; a Philips PCVC 740K, and is in /proc/bus/usb/devices
It is also live, as the red light on the camera itself is glowing brightly. However, xawtv does not seem to be able to see the device, at least not in the place it is expecting to see it, namely /dev/video, which is linked to /dev/video0:
ajalli:/usr/X11R6/bin # cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2
B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00
S: Product=USB UHCI-alt Root Hub
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms
T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 3 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0471 ProdID=0311 Rev= 0.03
This is also true if I use the -c dev/video# option.
This is xawtv-3.61, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.10-4GB)
can't open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available
So I need to find out where the device is mounted to...
I forgot the most important part...

And the user starting the xawtv app. is a member of the video group...
OK, the quicker and brighter amongst you will have seen that the permissions were not set correctly... I would still like to know if there is a command to see which USB devices are mounted and where - without having to trawl through /var/log/messages...
