winrar for linux
im trying to installing rar for linux (rarlabs.com)
stupid me doesnt know how to install files on linux.
also, i still dont have internet on linux, (have to unzip the drivers into linuz, i dunno wut im doing)
how do you install applications on linux?
type "unrar" in a terminal (probably xterm) if you get any output other than "command not found" then you allready have rar support. this is what you should see:
UNRAR 3.00 freeware Copyright (c) 1993-2002 Eugene Roshal
Usage: unrar <command> -<switch 1> -<switch N> <archive> <files...>
and then the list of commands..
if you download the linux version from rarlabs you will have to compile (not hard) it yourself there is a LOT of info on how to compile software in other posts so just use the search facility on this page to look for anything relateing to compileing source code
If you have installed WINE tool in your PC you can do that.
