Can you post the actual output? Or just the line dealing with '/'. There might be entries for '/boot' or '/home' but the only one we're interested in is '/'.

If the filesystem is in read mode only, you can make it read/write with:

mount -o remount,rw /

You might try that and see what happens.

I actually had this problem with the latest release. I'm not entirely sure this is what caused it, but I went back and forth with the package selection and partition mounting steps in the installer and my fstab was configured extremely oddly. For one thing, it was using volume id's like Ubuntu does. I seem to recall lines missing entirely that were normally present, too. Sorry I can't remember more, but I decided I had so little time invested a reinstall would be easiest, and all was well.
