Quoting myself here, but nevermind trying to figure this one out...

I just inserted a different brand of usb flash drive and it works without any problems, so it appears there's some issue with the usb drive I was using before.

Thanks to all that tried to help figure it out.

Just curious, which one didn't work, and which one did?

I have a 1GB ZMate that works just fine.

Sure thing... it works fine with the San Disk Cruzer Mini USB flash drives, but the Corsair Flash Voyager started giving the problems I described above when the 2.6.15 kernels came out. It still works just fine with other distros, so I'm not sure why Arch doesn't like it anymore.
