One more thought -- from your /etc/resolv.conf:
Code:
search hsd1.ca.comcast.net.
Lose the dot (.) at the end of the line.

Using the opendns server it is still requesting 255.255.255.255.in-addr.arpa

ping (ing google) works fine

first it queries for Google and gets a response, then after it gets its reply (using ping -c 1) it queries:

99.253.14.72.in-addr.arpa: type PTR, class IN

and gets a response of

99.253.14.72.in-addr.arpa: type PTR, class IN, po-in-f99.google.com

nslookup:

Code:
[root@Omega ~]# nslookup
> google.com
*** google.com does not exist (Authoritative answer
## removing the . at the end of resolv.conf didn't effect anything

I'm stumped.

Next thing I would do is see if Arch has any bugfixes (in the form of updated rpms) you can apply to the version you're running. I've never used pacman, but their wiki seems to explain it all well.

ArchWiki :: Main Page - ArchWiki

Good luck.
