Nevermind, i figured it out.... i ran the setup a second time and it worked, i guess i left out a step or something before... sorry for the hasty post ...

    hi again, i'm trying to get sound set up now...

    this is my soundcard: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)

    i'm just going by the instructions on the arch wiki. when i run

    Code:
    # amixer set PCM 85% unmute
    i get
    Code:
    amixer: Invalid command!
    i've been looking around on the arch forums and found mention of the issue a few times, but no solutions! i ran alsaconf as well and that didn't help...

    any suggestions?
