    Cannot open /var/lib/alsa/asound.state for writing


    Hi, decided to install arch and am stuck at one of the steps detailed in the guide.

    I try to run
    Code:
    # alsactl -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state store
    but it gives me the error message

    save_state:1532: Cannot open /var/lib/alsa/asound.state for writing: No such file or directory

    Help!

    Are you running the command as root?

    Chmod it, or chown I guess.

    I was trying to do it as root and as a regular user but after a restart it worked.
