Need help installing Arch
I've been thinking about it for a while, and I decided that it was finally time to try to install Arch Linux. But I've got a problem. Once I choose to boot Arch to install it, the usual white text starts flying up the screen. But then this message pops up:
Then 9 more lines of text, and then this message:Code:Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201005 . . .
Then it leaves me with this prompt:Code:ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30 seconds. . . Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
Code:[ramfs /]#
I've heard that this place is a good place to go to for help with things pertaining Linux, so here I am, humbly asking for your help.

Suggest you check installation media checksum value vs download website. You may also find an older Arch CD works (you can get these from the mirrors). Because Arch is a rolling release it does not matter that you use an old CD to install ... after a pacman -Syu everything will be up to date.
Ed: it may also be worth you looking at the instructions here see info for 2009.08 if grub does not load.Last edited by Jonathan183; 03-05-2011 at 11:38 PM.
