    Having a fight with X

    Hi there.

Just started out installing arch on an old machine I got here but I have ran into some problems.
And its NOT the xorg config file! But I will probably come back here later for that.
This time, I can't even get X running

I started out with updating pacman and those things and I though Hey I would like a window manager, lets install Gnome.
Hmm this will take some time, I'll get a cup of coffee during the time.
    Oh look it's done.
    Hmm
It says I'll need X server.
How stupid of me, ofc I'll have to install it by myself.
    Lets go
    PHP Code:
    pacman -S xorg
    Hey it works, how nice.
    Lets run startx
And now everything aint going that smooth anymore =/

    PHP Code:
    $startx
    /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrcline 1: /usr/bin/XNo such file or directory
    xinit
    giving up

If I understand the errormessage correctly the startx can't find my Xserver?

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Did you create an ~/.xinitrc file for using startx?
