    Question Arch (host) with qemu/kvm (windows) gpu passthrough


    I have been trying to setup qemu/kvm with gpu passthrough for awhile now without much progress. I am following the arch wiki (PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF) and also following a few other guides online. I have enabled VT-d on CPU, and verified that I have immou enabled. I am trying to do a test "post" on my gpu pass through monitor but the VM still pops up on my host monitor.

    I followed the steps completely until step 4 on the Arch Wiki. I googled how to test the setup before committing to install a VM. I found another link that explained how to do it. It is at the end of this website: <<sorry can't post link>>>

    My specs are: intel i5-6600k(host), Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel H110 Motherboard, GTX 1060 GPU(guest), 32GB Ram

    Here are some of the commands I checked to verify that immou is enabled and vfio-pci grouped the right devices.

    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would prefer to communicate one on one if you think you are able to give me a hand to get this set up. Main reason I want to do this is for gaming on Windows. Some games run much better on Windows than Linux.

    I could try, but some outputs are long.

    off and on 6 years, using it more recently last few years though.

    This website QEMU-KVM on Arch Linux Guide - TurluCode I also tried following, it is very similar to the arch wiki. I I followed the guide for grub. The test I am talking about is at the end of the page. I tried following that test using my vfio device ids and bus ids and still not getting nothing on my other monitor that is connected to my 1060.
    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would prefer to communicate one on one if you think you are able to give me a hand to get this set up. Main reason I want to do this is for gaming on Windows. Some games run much better on Windows than Linux.

    now some general things.
    i am guessing you posted this on arch forums and received no reply.
    why?
    possibly because nobody knows.
    also possibly because you chose phrases like "i tried everything" and "still nothing".
    instead of hoping that somebody has the exact same situation and knows how to overcome your exact problem (extremely unlikely), you need to walk them (or us) through everything you did, every bit of the tutorial must be represented by some statement, preferably with code.
    the first thing i see is
    Your systems needs to satisfy the following requirements:

    CPU VT-d support
    Motherboard can enable VT-d support
    Number of GPUs >= 2
    - of which you only confirmed the last bit.

    ... and then follows a loooooong list of steps....

    or:
    does the windows virtual machine (if it is even called that) work without the gpu passthrough? the monitor? the card?
    troubleshooting means, eliminate the simple stuff first and work your way up until you hit a snag. fix that. rinse and repeat, unitl you get your results.

    Sorry, it was late and been trying to do this for a long time. I have immou enabled which is VT-d, I also looked up my motherboard and it supports it as well. It wouldn't of gave me a reading that it is enabled and working if it wasn't enabled on both.I followed the guide until I got to step 4 Setting up an OVMF-based guest VM, then I seen the other website that had similar steps, I did the test "post" to see if my configuration will work and the VM doesn't start on 2nd monitor as it should. I want to be able to test that before I go ahead and set up a new VM according to the wiki.
