Storm Studios is seeking a system administrator
Storm Studios is an animation, film and visual effects production company located in centrally in Oslo, Norway (
Storm Studio). We are currently expanding and need a new network and system administrator. As a system administrator you will be working tightly with the rest of the team. You have to be motivated, systematic and driven to come up with good solutions for optimizing the network, workstations performance and workflow.
Your main responsibilities are:
LAN.
Web server and home pages.
xSan and fiber
Workstations (mirroring and installasjon)
Purchase of hardware and software
Firewall, VPN, IP-phone
Software licenses and installasjon
User setup and configuration (shared configs)
Some scripting
You should have the following qualifications:
Good understanding of Linux, in addition to familiarity with WindowsXP and Mac OS X
In depth understanding of Linux-based networks, including NIS, NFS, link aggregation, network optimiztation, firewall, apache and san/xSan
Experienced at running and installing servers and workstations.
Familiarity with tape backup robots (we use an ADIC tape robot with Networker)
Programming/scripting in bash shell and similar languages.
Fluent in English or Norwegian (understanding Norwegian is an advantage, but not required)
We mainly use software like Maya, Shake, Pixar RenderMan, Final Cut Pro Suite and a few Adobe products. We are using distributed rendering on a renderfarm, and have at times very high load on the network. We are planing on increasing our storage capacity to 50T, in addition to increasing the capacity on the network soon.
Experience with film, tv or games production is an advantage, but not required.
