techieMoe, I'm suffering from "thick skull syndrome" today, could you explain to me what this means?
Yes, you like it, or no you don't? I even asked my GF and she's kinda confused as well.

Unqualified good news, meaning it's good, plain and simple. There are no "but wait!" strings attached as far as I'm concerned. Some have brought up that considering the deals Novell made with Microsoft, this should somehow be a hollow victory. I do not agree. This is a success for the FOSS community. We should be celebrating, not nitpicking the side deals made by Novell.

Thanks for the clarification, I had a feeling that you thought it was a good call. I'm gonna do the happy dance for at least one more week. (I'm out of shape)

that comment baffled me as well. i agree that its good on a whole that baseless claims were hindering companies acceptance of opensource in the corporate world.

    SCO appeals Unix ownership decision

SCO might have gone down in flames as stated in the original article, but it appears that the fire has arisen again from the dying embers:

It can appeal all it want, doesn't mean they're going to win this time around. The original ruling was done during summary judgement, which means there wasn't even a trial, the judge pretty much said "You have no leg to stand on!" All they are saying now is "yes, we do have a leg to stand on", which is a long way from "we're right".

SCO have no choice but to appeal as they'd be ruined if they don't (besides, appealing seems standard in law these days).
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

I'll never be able to understand why companies like SCO are so keen on litigation. You would think acting that way would damage their reputation...

They might suppose that they have a lot to gain from a successful claim, but after the way they've acted I would go a long way to avoid their products / services.

In the meantime the creative and knowledgeable Linux community (and we are a community) just carries on, going from strength to strength. We can all play a small part in making this thing rock!

It's not about 'developers, developers, developers'. It's about community, community, community.
