um hi
Well, I've never been in a Linux forum before, so I figured I'd try it out.
Anyways, I betcha guys want to know a little bit about me? well, I'm a 16 year old who lives in Kern County California, quite possibly the most computer-illiterate place in the world (I know people who don't know what a mouse is lol).
I usually go by either tails or polar bear in groups, or in this case, forums.
list of distros that I use:
Debian, Slax, Knoppix, Ubuntu, OpenSuSe, Fedora, DSL, PcLinuxOS, and OpenSolaris (does that count? lol)
I'm also working on my own distro of Linux, called 'polar bear linux'. You can check it out here: polarbearlinux.
ok, well that's all for now. l8r g8rs!Last edited by oz; 08-14-2007 at 08:40 PM. Reason: removed over-sized screenshot

Welcome to the forums, tails!

Hope you have fun here and can visit often.
Hey, I've deleted your screenshot because it's messing with the page borders. Please feel free to repost it in the desktop screenshots thread:

Also, be sure to use thumbnails as instructed in the first post of the thread so that the page borders don't get screwed up...

Hi "tails"|"polar bear",
I looked at your distro, and it's impressive. I might want to give it a run perhaps. This is your doing, yousay? And you're what? 16? Working so structured? Wow! (and I don't mean World of Warcraft
)
With how many are you working on it?Can't tell an OS by it's GUI

It's based off of Debian, and the Linux-live scripts (you know, those linux-live scripts from Slax?). As for the people working on it, I'm the lone developer lolz
I've been working on it since June, when I decided to release Alpha 1, which ran very well.
I released Alpha 2 way too early; it was just a complete disaster. It didn't run worth a crap lol.
I'm trying to get Kodiak beta 1 to be as stable as I can get it, while I can because I got school starting on September 4th. For right now, I really don't care about all the extra features; I just want it to run lol. I'm developing it on this computer:
AMD athalon xp 2000+ @ 1.5ghz
640Mb of RAM
Nvidia GEFORCE 5600 graphics card
dual-40gig hard drives
cd burner+Dvd reader
Test computer:
Virtual box computer with 128Mb of RAM, generic VESA video card and no hard drive.
Anyways, I'm having some trouble finding servers to host it on, so I decided to make my own server.
the problem is, the computer I'm developing it on IS my server lol. If anybody is willing to host it, that'd be great thanks!
p.s. sorry that everythings all garbled up, I"m kinda in a rush at the moment. I'll post a follow-up later tonight
