    Slackware costs 50 $ !!!

    Hi ,

what is missing to have this price for me is the following:

    1) - better script for the installation , boot loader configuration and ....
    2) - Script to setup X , this is not difficult as there is many distros have useful examples (ubuntu,Fedora,Sus).
    3) - official improvement for it's package management (i don't think there is a package management ). specially basing dependencies checking .
    4) - official repositories for extra package . gnome is removed !!!! dropline gnome is a good project but since the release of Slack 12 till now dropline gnome 2.18.3 still contains a lot of problems, freerock gnome is already dead . linuxpackages.net is a volunteer project and it takes a lot of times to build packages .
    5) - and some non important details .

Well is still use Slack with dropline gnome as my only one operating system , but probably it's only a sentimental issue.

    Regards.
Linux is not only an operating system, it's a philosophy.
    Archost.

I agree with most of your criticisms of Slackware, but there are probably just as many folks out there who disagree. I don't think this is going to end up a very positive thread, so I'm going to lock it.
