    LPI 202 Exam: Experience anyone?

    Hi all,

I'm preparing for the LPI 202 exam using O'Reillys Linux book (can't quite remember the name).

I'm interested in what other people thought of this exam. Is it difficult? Are certain topics over-emphasized? I had a pretty hard time on exam 201. I feel like the book is mostly to blame and my lack of experience with linux in server environments (happily running it on my desktop for 10 years now

So by posting here I hope to prevent any nasty surprises when I take the exam in a few weeks

I've not taken any of the 20x exams (I am taking both exams next month), but one thing I realised from the 10x exams is never to rely on that book alone. Its a very good resource, but it has a few bits that are now out of date and some things are over emphasised. I would download the detailed objectives from the LPI site, use the book as my main reading material but also reference others.

If you are not experienced with server stuff, when not get an old box or buy a cheap PC and use it for your studies. This method has helped me gain more experience about Linux/Unix on servers.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do. However when I see that the lpi objects say you have to be familiar with postfix, qmail, exim AND sendmail.. my eyes get a little glossy...

Well, I took 201 and 202. 201 was easy, scored a 650 i think, which was what I got on the level one exams, but 202 I totally bombed due to my lack of knowledge on BIND and sendmail. I think after I take the RHCE I will get the 202 out of the way.

Sounds to me like the 202 exam is pretty harsh. This is going to take allot fo studying...

Personally I found the 201 exam to be quite difficult, I guess mostly due to my lack of experience.

(Hope to start with RHCE after I go up for VCP (VMWare) )

202 also has some questions on perl I think. Reading perl and determining what it's doing isn't always easy, even if you know some perl.
