The last 3 days a large part of Greece, Peloponisos has been burned to ashes. A total destruction of the environment, houses burned, over 50 people died in the fire. The country is in state of emergency. Pictures can be found here, showing the size of the destruction. Half Greece is under fire, one of the most catastrophic since 1871

There are so many fires in a short amount of time. This cannot be accidental. There are really strong winds, preventing airplanes and helicopters from dropping water and causing more fire outbreaks.

I've been reading about this terrible tragedy on the BBC news site. I was a student with a Greek guy ... He's probably okay, but I wonder. I think he might live near Athens now.

Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis has stated; " So many fires breaking out simultaneously in so many parts of the country cannot be a coincidence. The state will do everything it can to find those responsible and punish them. "
