So what, may I ask, is the purpose of Bubuntu? What is special about it compared to regular Ubuntu?

The desktop has been modified to look more like KDE, you've included aMSN (ugh) instead of Pidgin, and it's in French by default.

I suppose for those who speak French, use MSN messenger, and want an Ubuntu "remix" so to speak, this is a good thing. I just don't see any significant improvements over regular Ubuntu.

That's not in french, there are 3 different ISO files : french, english and spanish.
