A few Ubuntu spinoffs we'd like to see...

It seems these days there are a multitude of distros based on the ever popular Ubuntu. There are so many special interest groups out there that this is likely only the beginning! So... In an effort to speed along progress on the Linux Desktop, we've come up with a few other ideas for distros based on Ubuntu. After all, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Christian edition and the others are not going to please every one!

    We'd also like to see:

For the new Linux user who believes computing as a regular user is just a waste of time there could be...

    Subuntu

Why not just be "su" or root all the time and never have to input pesky passwords! Subuntu also would come with a tutorial on writing the rudimentary script "goodbye world!" along with detailed instructions on how to run the command rm -rf on your root and home partitions! Plus, if you ever forget to wipe all your files, the shutdown process will do it for you! That way you can do a fresh re-install of Subuntu every time you turn on your computer!

It's simply not fair that the people of Peru should not have a Linux distro of their own. So in the name of humanity, we suggest...

    Perubuntu

As an added bonus, after spending weeks and weeks tweaking and making your system to be the best that it can possibly be, the maintainers of Perubuntu will have a special cracker usernamed "Pizzaro" invade your system via ssh and completely destroy the desktop environment that took so much time to build and maintain! This would be great motivation to put you on a fast track to Linux security. You'll know iptables forward and backward in less than a week!

Let's face it... we love doom and gloom! We spend hours a day reading horribly depressing news online, in newspapers and magazines. Now, a special version of Linux for those of us who thrive on depressing information...

    Birdflubuntu

Once Birdflubuntu is up and going, you'll be happy as a lark that you finally conquered installing a Linux desktop! Fear not! Plenty of bad news is close at hand. The Birdflubuntu web browser (Firebird) is pre-bookmarked for the web pages of Fox News, CNN, The New York Times and The Drudge Report to plunge you right back into a bottomless pit of alarming and depressing news! Take another Xanax and stay happily depressed with Birdflubuntu!

And finally, for the fan of 1980's British pop music, where no other distro will do...

    Kajagoogoobuntu

This distro comes with optional Desktop icons featuring the likenesses of George Michaels, Rod Stewart, John Waite, and that guy that sang with Roland Orzabal in Tears for Fears! Kajagoogoobuntu will have you singing along with the band's hit single "Too Shy" and reliving other wonderful eighties memories as you tear out your remaining hair attempting to get your wireless card working with ndiswrapper!

    Other suggestions welcome!

    Cool

Noobuntu -- The distro for noobs. It's automatically setup so that you can't do anything.

Kajagoogoobuntu... Hmm, where can I get that?

I've thought that people should hold the ISO for the Fake Apple Linux that can be made with Ubuntu.
In other words, it queries your driver and correctly installs beryl and/or compiz to make your computer look as though it's using Apple instead of Linux.

A number of Linux users have stumbled upon what many report to be the only legitimate path to geek nirvana:

The inebriating joy of compiling custom kernels while sipping fine Tennessee sour mash whiskey and listening to the mind melding harmonies of Buck Owens and Don Rich as they sing their 1960's country hits. For this small but growing number of Linux specialty users, the premiere RC1 of:

    Ubuckarootu

The developers understand not all Ubuckarootu users will prefer George Dickel. There is also an alternate "Jack Daniels" edition that can be chosen during installation.

Don't know how I missed this post the first time around, but good work Dapper. Funny stuff. You got an unintentional snort with "Birdflubuntu."

I'm with you, techieMoe... I couldn't help but laugh at "birdflubuntu"...

But if you can tell me where to download Ubuckarootu I'll start using it right away!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.... might save us all those annoying "Help Me, I'm A Noob!!" titled-threads that I was talking about in my post.

Just to add to this thread, I really like Dan's idea of Icebuntu.... I think that needs to be the most immediate next project. Or better yet, anyone interested in working with me to create that, let me know!! I'd be down!
