This could be a tricky situation for you, oxtail75.

Nobody here can really tell you which distro will for certain be the best one for your organization because each distro has its own loyal followers and they will all surely say that their's is the best. Others that answer will most likely have never tried all of them and truly compared them.

If I were you, I'd do some online searching about each distro, its support channel, it's up front costs and upgrade costs, etc., then present that info to some panel for your organization and let them vote on what will be implemented. That way, if things should not turn out the way they thought, they won't all be angry at you because they went with your suggestion.

Of course, that's all just my own opinion on the matter.

Here's a comparison chart of various distros and it covers a number of different things that might be of interest to you and your organization:

I recommend Red Hat, SLED I would say comes in second, and Ubuntu I just wouldn't use at all.

I would use what you are comfortable and knowledgeable with, if that is Ubuntu then use Ubuntu. Main thing is that at some point you will be a point of contact for issues concerning the PC.

The documentation for RHEL5 is very good (and CentOS 5 is free). Not saying this distro is the perfect choice but good docs come in handy sometimes.
