Lets hope the open source. That would be a big victory and hopefully force nvidia to do the same.

I dont see where its going to be open source i have a feeling it will be proprietary as well but atleast they are releasing one though i doubt it will be any better than the last few series they released due to their lack luster performance in the past.

Perhaps open source may be too much to hope for at this point, but it's still good news I think.

Even if they released the drivers in RPM format and set up a repository, would it really be so bad?

Good news I think. I have a creaky old ATI card in my PC - and no plans to replace it just yet - so I like to see articles like this.

well it looks as if this isn't going to bad at all they are talking about releasing specs on their cards so as to let open source community build better drivers as well.

I've never had an ATI card but glad to hear this news for those that do. Hopefully, this will turn into a really good thing.

I have an ATI card my brother gave it to replace my ancient geforce 2 (Which, for the record, was a f*@#ing awesome card!) and don't really have cash atm to replace it. So I'm glad to see I'm gona get some propper support for it

Latest news is that they have partnered up with Novell.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of it. AMD has already announced they plan on releasing an All-in-one processor in 2009 (CPU+graphics).
