    Well, he did say numerous times why he did it: to show that no matter how many OSs you have install, GRUB can load them the same exact way (chainloader +1). I think the 145 figure is there just because he just kept on piling them on without thinking. With a minimal install of most of the OSs you're talking about at most 1hr each.

    I seem to recall someone a long time ago (like 2001) doing something similar but had like 170 (number may be way off). That person had lots of obscure OS (sky, infereno, Haiku) in addition to tons of Linux distros.

    vergil the guy you are talking about also had every major version of windows back to 1.0 installed as well.
