Say software vendor to port theyr software to Linux!
Now it's good chance to support Linux. Today there was created poll in Autodesk user group international forum asking to vote about is it important to port Autodesk Revit (building information modeling (BIM) software) to other OS. One reason for me and many colleagues why we are stuck on windows are because some one or two particular programs are available only on windows. Software vendors say that there are no need to port to Linux because there are no users.
So please spread that message to world vote on that poll and show them that there are will from people, that there are people who use Linux and are happy.
Community did great job to influence Dell to sell preinstalled Linux on their computers. Do another miracle for Autodesk. Sometimes such big companies needs some enquaragement (how to spell that word correctly??
) from community.
Port Revit you say: to what OS? - AUGI Forums

I mean no disrespect, but I would think Autodesk would be prudent enough to take a cue from Dell and ATI. If I were running the company and believed no one was using Linux, the recent actions by these two major companies alone would surely be enough to change my mind.

A bit too early for applause
Now only thing we could do is to collect as many votes we could (now there are 6 for port to Linux) I think not enough to change Autodesk mind. But if there was 6000 votes
In our office we need AutoCAD only to do site plans, because Revit still not have good site tools, but they are developing it. Of course it will be great to see AutoCAD on Linux, but it's not so important for me like Revit (there are some CAD programs on Linux, but there are no BIM program on Linux) Now I do not imagine how I could do building project with AutoCAD, future is for such programs like Revit, with new philosophy for building designing.
Thank you for support
Edit: I found some discusion about AutoCAD on Linux
